| 'So much takes place in the head, so little is known and fixed. Signals, styles, systems of rapid highly conventionalised communication, are the life blood of the big city' | |
| - Jonathan Raban | |
| My work explores the experience of existing in a city, and in particular how I experience it through the routes I travel through it. How I engage with my environment, or escape it lost in my own thoughts and daydreams, sometimes losing track completely of where I am. | |
| Yet it is a shared experience, public transport forces all kinds of people together, packed in we invade each other's personal space; but avoid communicating with each other, eye contact and speaking can even feel threatening. | |
| My work seeks to readdress this un-balance and share my experience with others; it is a personal and public reality. I am the onlooker and the participator, as is the viewer who finds their own route through the work. | |
